Advocacy Update: AB 2343 Milestone Reached
We’re excited to share a major win - Assembly Bill 2343 passed unanimously out of the Assembly Health Committee. This is a critical milestone toward ensuring that when people seek addiction treatment, they can access clear, reliable information about the quality of care they’ll receive.
This progress would not have been possible without our community. Over the past several weeks, volunteers:
- Submitted written testimony
- Signed petitions
- Shared personal stories
- Testified in person at the Capitol
Your voices helped bring urgency, clarity, and humanity into the room - and lawmakers listened.
What’s Next: Protecting Critical California Programs Through Funding
With AB 2343 advancing, our California advocacy focus is now shifting to an urgent state funding priority.
If funding is not approved, Shatterproof will be forced to wind down two critically important programs serving the California community:
These programs provide essential support, transparency, and stigma‑reduction for people and families navigating addiction and recovery. Ensuring continued funding is crucial to protecting this impact.
How You Can Stay Engaged
Upcoming opportunities will focus on in‑person advocacy in Sacramento, including meetings, visibility moments, and direct engagement with decision‑makers.
Whether or not you live in Sacramento, we need our activists:
- Some opportunities will involve being physically present
- Others may include story sharing, preparation support, or coordination ahead of key moments
Raise your hand now so we know you’re open to engaging as in‑person opportunities are activated.
By signing up, you’ll receive timely updates and clear guidance when action is needed.
Together, we’re building momentum - and ensuring that progress doesn’t stop here.
Thank you for showing up, raising your voice, and continuing this work with us.
