NYC Junior Council

The NYC Junior Council is a group of young professionals and community advocates (ages 22 to 39) committed to supporting Shatterproof’s mission to transform systems, support families, and end stigma. The Council is a volunteer group that engages in awareness-building, advocacy, and fundraising, with a focus on stigma reduction, harm prevention, and community engagement. 2026 Spotlights
April 2026 - Shoutout Some Shatterproof volunteers have a deep personal connection to the mission - like Pierce. He’s celebrating 10 years of sobriety while serving as a NYC Walk fundraiser, co-captain and Junior Council member. His leadership helps push our work forward in the ways that matter most. 2025 Spotlights
December 2025 - CYOF Representation Tasha represented Shatterproof at a community fundraiser, helping raise $1,200+ and building new partnerships with local mental health leaders.
	December 2025 - Panel Discussion Shatterproof was represented at a Trinity College panel alongside the CT Harm Reduction Alliance. Thanks to Pierce (NYC JC member) for sharing insight and lived experience, and Brooke (Mobilizer) for facilitating the connection.
November 2025 - Story Sharing to School Tyler shared his story with middle school students during a session on substance use and decision-making, leaving a lasting impression through honesty and vulnerability.
	November 2025 - NYC Marathon Tasha (with Mobilizer Lizzie) supported Shatterproof runners at the NYC Marathon, bringing energy and encouragement every step of the way.
October 2025 - Walk Engagement NYC Junior Council members showed up for the NYC Walk to End Addiction Stigma in a big way - volunteering, fundraising, and leading teams. Together, members raised $51,000+ and helped power an impactful day.
	September 2025 - Boots on the Ground Emma, Ben, Mike, and Julia distributed 50 Narcan kits across 10 Brooklyn bars, sparking meaningful conversations and meeting people where they are.
July 2025 - Boots on the Ground The Council came together in person to assemble 144 Narcan bags - expanding access to lifesaving resources across NYC through the Boots on the Ground subgroup.
	July 2025 - Story Spotlight After losing a close friend to overdose, Mike turned grief into action - using his voice to raise awareness and support others. A powerful reminder of the impact one person can make.
May 2025 - Boots on the Ground After a year of dedication, Ben and Emma secured their first Narcan delivery through NY State’s Opioid Overdose Prevention Program: 288 doses now available for community distribution.
